An off-grid solar power system generates electricity from solar panels and store it into solar batteries to power the house without connecting to the grid. As energy prices continue to rise, more and more of us are opting for self-sufficiency when powering our residential homes. For others, living in a remote location may mean that connecting to the national electricity grid simply isn’t an option. This is where off grid solar power comes in: off grid energy is an environmentally friendly answer to generate remote power and it living off the grid with solar power is a potentially profitable investment that could save you thousands in electricity costs and grid connection fees.

What does a Stand Alone or an Off Grid System look like?

Off-grid solar systems consist of roof or ground-mounted solar panels, a battery bank to store energy, an integrated backup diesel generator and an Inverter and/or Charger to act as an interface between the different inputs.

Compared to older off-grid systems, modern off-grid technology is very easy to maintain, fully automated and can be monitored and controlled online. A further benefit of modern off-grid systems is the quality of the power they produce. This power quality is often better than the average grid electricity and will extend the lifespan of your appliances and machinery.

Suitable for small sized households of 1-2 people, Medium Off-Grid Solar Systems are entry-level residential power systems, large enough to supply an efficient household with renewable energy.



Large solar power systems for typical Australian households (up to 14 kWh per day). A large solar power systems is an up-scaled version of our Medium systems with a much larger inverter/charger in order to run most of your appliances simultaneously. Likewise, these systems can also be supplied as pre-wired kits or fully installed by our accredited technicians

Natural Technology designs systems as per the needs and suitability of the customers keeping in mind the site conditions, for example, in this case the container (having batteries and inverters placed inside securely) designed in a way so it floats from the ground to sustain the flooding that usually takes place in this region.    

The most important steps in designing and sizing an off-grid solar power system is to determine the required electricity need. This will be done by a load analysis to calculating what the loads are, how many they are, how many watts each load is and how long each load is used every single day. Then we can determine the number of solar panels and solar batteries needed to run the house off-grid.

Installation will depend on the size of the solar power system and the roof condition, but typically takes 1 to 2 days.

Solar panels generate electricity by sunlight and UV ray. A cool sunny days in fact provide a higher production, however the daytime hours are less in winter time. When designing a solar energy system, we included in the calculation the effect of change in seasons to the annual energy production.

If your house is built to code, you will be able to install a solar power system on it. If the roof of your house is suitably flat and faces north, west or east, then it is suitable.
